Revision during the summer : the benefits

At Walron, we believe that staying on top of your education despite being on summer break is key for when students return back to their schools. The summer holidays are supposed to be a time for relaxation, and a time where you can enjoy yourself without the stress of school. This is why we have put together 3 fun revision resources / techniques that can be used for only 30 minutes a day, but will keep students on track to achieve the grades they want.

Technique #1 : Revision roulette

This revision strategy consists of writing down revision questions on separate slips of paper and putting them into a jar, or you can use a ‘spin the wheel app’ and input the revision questions into there. These questions should be based on subjects that the student is not as confident with, as it will help build their levels of confidence when returning back to these subjects after the summer break. When a question has been chosen at random, you should attempt to answer and if you do not manage to get it, it will highlight the areas that need to be worked on. This strategy only needs to be practiced for 10-15 minutes each day.

Technique #2 : Mind map doodles

Pick your favourite subject and create a mind map with the subject name in the middle. Then, add colour coded branches with information and doodles branching off of the middle. This can be a 10 minute task and will help you recall information in a much more creative way !

Technique #3 : Quiz games with friends

There are many tools online that allow you to play fun quiz games either by yourself or with your friends. These include Kahoot, Quizlet, and Blooket. These sites are not only one of the most fun revision tools, however also are very effective when revising for subjects like science, PE, and Maths. An average game will take up to 10 minutes.
